Algorithms in the transport sector

Algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly important for organisations, including in the transport sector. If this involves processing of personal data, the privacy of employees in the transport sector is affected as a result.

Use of algorithms

Employers use algorithms to monitor their cargo and vehicles even more closely. To ensure, for example, that they can provide a safe working environment. Or speed up processes thanks to a tight scheduling.

New rules for algorithms

Because algorithms and AI are so new, not all aspects are covered by rules yet. The government is working on these rules. New rules for AI and algorithms have just taken effect or will take effect soon.

Ask your employer or the Works Council

Do you want to know which algorithms and AI are used by your employer? And which personal data of you may be processed by your employer as a result? Ask your employer then. You can also speak to the Works Council, if your employer has one.

Complaint about algorithms

Do you have a complaint about the use of algorithms by your employer? And are you unable to work it out together with your employer? Then you can submit a tip-off or complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Dutch DPA).
