Black list in the transport sector

Within the transport sector, cargoes are sometimes stolen or drugs transported. This is a problem for employers and customers, but sometimes also for you as an employee.

Exchanging data

Employers want to keep employees who have stolen, for example, out of the transport sector. To prevent these employees from doing this again at another employer, employers may register data of these employees. We call this a black list.

Employers – and sometimes customers as well – may then exchange these data with other employers and customers within the transport sector.

Rules for a black list

Strict rules apply for drawing up a black list and for sharing a black list. One of these rules is that employers must tell their employees that they can be placed on a black list.

In addition, employers have to obtain a permit from the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), the Dutch data protection authority, to share the black list.

Permits issued

So far, the AP has issued 2 permits in the transport sector. These are the permit for the Logistics Sector Warning and Monitoring Register and the permit for Gatekeeper.

Do you want to know if your employer or customer is participating in one of these black lists? Ask your employer or customer then.
