Organisation of the AP
The Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (AP), the Dutch data protection authority, was founded as the designated supervisory authority for the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the GDPR Implementation Act and the Directive on data protection in the law enforcement sector, implemented in the Police Data Act (Dutch Wpol) and the Judicial Data and Criminal Records Act (Dutch Wjsg), among others.
The AP is an independent administrative authority with its own legal personality. The AP is managed by the board. The organisation is divided in six departments.

The board consists of:
- Aleid Wolfsen (chair);
- Monique Verdier (deputy chair);
- Katja Mur (board member).

Directorates within the AP
The AP is subdivided into six directorates:
- Directorate of Customer Contact and Controlling Investigations. The director is Renske Heijungs.
- Directorate of System Supervision, Security and Technology. The director is Nanning de Jong.
- Directorate of Legal Affairs and Legislation. The director is Annita de Bruijne.
- Directorate of Policy, International Affairs, Strategy and Communication. The director is Jeroen Kerseboom.
- Directorate for the Coordination of Algorithmic Oversight (DCA). The director is Sven Stevenson.
- Directorate of Business Operations. The director is Bart Cooijmans.

Advisory board of the AP
The AP has an advisory board. The advisory board is tasked with advising the AP on the outlines of the policy and other general aspects of the protection of personal data.
The members of the advisory board are appointed by the Minister for Legal Protection, on the nomination of the AP. The members have diverse backgrounds and positions.
The position, tasks and working procedure of the advisory board have been set out in the management regulations of the AP.
The members of the advisory board are:
- Alexander Pechtold (chair, appointed for four years)
- Ineke Sybesma (member, appointed for four years)
- Marleen Stikker (member, appointed for three years)
- Eric Tjong Tjin Tai (member, appointed for three years)
- Rob Bertholee (member, appointed for four years)
